True Worship

Our close couple friends (this is what I call a husband and wife who are good friends with my husband and me), have decided to make the month of September, worship month, and invited us to join them (which we did). This means that we are seeking to intentionally make time and efforts to worship our King and Creator, Jesus. This comes at an especially important time for both of our families because of various circumstances ourselves, our friends, and our families are going through.

edit-worship-paintingI don’t know about you, but most of the time when I think about worship, I (clichély) think about the time spent singing at church. Singing is definitely a part of worship, but it does not encompass the whole of it. Jesus, when speaking to the Samaritan woman in John 4:23-24 says, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth.” I’ve always wondered at this verse: what is a true worshiper? How do you worship in Spirit? What I’ve come to realize is that our worship to God is anything that is done, said, prayed, or thought to glorify him, to seek him, appreciate what he’s done for us and given us, and seek him first. Worshiping in spirit can be as simple as our heart cry, whispering his name “Jesus!” When you have no other words, when you don’t know how to pray, saying his name is enough to start worshiping him (and singing his praises is awesome too, but that’s a post for another day).

I ask that you join us, in this month of intentional praise. Whether your life is everything you wish, or your worst fears are being realized, or somewhere in between. Pour out your praise and thanksgiving! Remember, you have a Holy intercessor and gratefulness paves the way for him to move. I am praying and worshiping with you! I’d love to hear about anything that’s going on in your life!
